Personalities – Zurab Tsereteli
Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli was born in Tbilisi on the 4th January 1934. He is President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honor (France). Monumentality is the word that best describes Zurab Tsereteli’s art: all of it is monumental – his sculptures, paintings and drawings. Monumentality in this context means grandeur, pomp in the best sense of the word, significant or even sacredness in its human dimension
that imparts a mythical feeling to his works of art.
